The Columbia Association is a society of Italian American Police and Peace Officers and Civilian Staff. Its mission is to develop an understanding and appreciation of the contributions made by Italians and Italian-Americans toward the development of our great nation. To increase our knowledge and understanding of the cultural heritage that unites us all.
The Nassau County Sheriff’s Department Columbia Association is now a member of the National Council of Columbia Associations in Civil Service. Founded in 1959 by Italian American leadership in New York City, led by the Honorable Mario Biaggi, the National Council has served the Italian American Community in many ways since its founding 51 years ago. The Council is made up of the Presidents of Italian American societies throughout the United States of America. According to the recent Calandria Institute, an affiliate of the City University of New York, the Council represents over 120,000 Italian Americans in Civil Service.
The Columbia Association is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) Corporation.
